These are free images for desktop background use.
(They may be used for other purposes, but not for profit without permission.)

Click small image to see it full size and then right click full size image, choose set as background or wallpaper and it will become your desktop background.
You then need to rename the file or the next time you do this it will replace the previous image with a new one.
Use the Start menu's  Find files or folders and search for the file named Netscape wallpaper.bmp or Internet Explorer wallpaper.bmp, depending on which
  browser you've used. Then right click the file in Find's results panel and choose rename. Give it a descriptive name, what ever you want.
New versions of Internet Explorer complicate things by putting wallpaper images in the C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer folder.
You have to rename the wallpaper file and move it from the Internet Explorer folder to the Windows folder.
You can also use Windows Explorer to look in the Windows folder, or the newer Internet Explorer folder for the wallpaper file. 
It's easy to rename and move the wallpaper file using Windows Explorer.
You then need to go to your display's background area and choose a background
  or a default solid color will be on your desktop next time you restart your computer.
The image will then show in your desktop backgrounds area where you can change backgrounds whenever you want without losing the image.
The full size images can also be right clicked and saved to a folder on your hard drive for later use.
